LABOR DELIVERY RECOVERY, MOTHER-BABY UNIT
Labor/Delivery/Recovery in a home-like environment
The design of this space takes advantage of building geometry to create a quiet alcove for each group of patient rooms off the main corridor. The availability of interstitial space is utilized by articulating the ceiling in alcoves and main corridors to create opportunities for indirect lighting and dramatic effect. Patient rooms are designed with panels at each headwall to conceal the required medical outlets. All necessary equipment is hidden in alcoves to complete the de-institutionalized character.
