Big house on the Prairie

This 4500 SF home for the developer of a new subdivision was designed to serve as both their private residence and the project sales office.  Plans and elevations reflect the client’s desire for a ‘ramblin' ranch’ in the character of the early 1900’s Prairie Style. In spite of its size and the complexity of room relationships, circulation flows easily room to room with very little space lost to hallways.  All main living spaces capitalize on views to a string of lakes just beyond the 1.7-Acre site. As empty nesters, the homeowners chose to put all guest bedrooms and an in-law apartment on the lower level with a full daylight basement opening to the rear of the house.
